The Jay O'Connor Memorial 3v3 Mini
World Cup Indoor Tournament, presented by Team COS.
Tournament format includes round robin matches followed
by elimination, semifinal, final and consolation rounds.
Each team accepted into the tournament is guaranteed at least
seven matches. Matches
are 15 minutes in duration, running time (no
stoppage) with substitutions on the fly, indirect kick-ins when
ball goes out
of bounds. Participants
that register by Jan. 15 will receive a cool tournament t-shirt and
winners in each age group will receive a special "tournament champion" prize. |

Tournament matchdays take place Feb.
18, 19, 25, 2006 from 7:30-10 PM (youngest age groups
will end by 9:40 PM). |
| Where |
Worldgate
Sport & Health Club (Herndon). Most games will take
place on tennis courts (60'x120') while some will take place on
the downstairs basketball courts (50'x84') with boundaries and
Pugg goals (semicircular 3'x5'). |

This is a great way for your team
to get extra touches on the ball in a competitive environment this
winter. Tournament proceeds will benefit the Jay O'Connor Scholarship
for Youth Soccer in Memory of James Patrick (Jay) O'Connor, November
15, 1976 - May 24, 2002. Jay's
fund provides scholarships to boys and girls to attend summer soccer
camps. |
| Rules |
Developed by Team COS Technical staff, including Kris

1. FIFA rules of the game apply except for the following
2. The game starts with a kick off based on coil flip
3. There is a kick off after a goal is scored
4. A kick off may go forwards or backwards
5. Kick-ins from out of bounds. 5 seconds or turn over to other team
6. Sub on the fly, player must be off field for new one to enter.
Have a sub zone where exchanges take place
7. All free kicks are indirect, including corner and goal kicks
8. Opponents must be 3 yards away on kick offs, kick-ins or any free
kick, including goal and corner kicks
9. There is an 8’ diameter crease around the goal. No player
may enter the crease from either team at anytime
10. Score from anywhere
11. No penalty kicks. If a bad (yellow card) foul occurs, play one
man down one minute
12. Games are 15 minutes long, running clock
13. Referee may stop the clock for an injury in the last minute
May the better team win. |
| Cost |
The tax-deductible registration fee
is $195 per five-player team. Please note: when registering online
as a team, the cost is broken down as $39 per player. If your team
does not have the full five players, please contact
the tournament director and we will work to find guest player(s)
for your team. |
