John played for Bruce Arena at the University of Virginia from 1987-90, where he won the1989 NCAA Championship. He is a three time MLS Cup Champion with D.C. United in '96, '97 and '99. He started in the 1994 FIFA World All Star game in Casablanca, Morocco in front of 100,000 fans, scoring the final goal in a 3-3 draw. He was a Parade Magazine All-American in high school. John has extensive experience with various camps, clinics and youth teams across the country and holds his USSF “B” and National Youth License. John is married with two children, loves sharing his love of the game with young soccer players, and has done so for the last 21 years as a youth soccer coach and technical director at various clubs across the country, including Sterling, Va., South Fla., Ridgefield, Conn., and most recently, Broken Bow, Nebraska..
