available sessions

GOALKEEPERS will be broken into intermediate and advanced groups and work with top area goalkeeper trainers. Topics covered include ball handling, deflecting, breakaways, boxing, two goal drills, catching, pressure training, angle play, handling crosses, penalty kicks, diving, distribution, MLS Shootout, individual five-aside (reading the game), and goalkeeper wars.

Intermediate Goalkeepers - for the younger keepers it may be their first formal introduction to serious goalkeeper training, while the older keepers will reinforce the fundamentals needed to reach higher levels of goalkeeping. The goal of the intermediate program is to develop fundamental skills and all-around, well-balanced goalkeeping skills.

Advanced Goalkeepers - Advanced 'keepers qualify by playing travel Div. 1,2 that are U12 and older, others by GK Director approval only. Participants should have prior goalkeeper training and at least three years experience. The program is designed for 'keepers who already have proven themselves proficient in the basic technical aspects of goalkeeping and are looking to improve. Advanced goalkeepers will review the fundamentals at an accelerated pace. Emphasis will be on footwork, high-level techniques and decision making under pressure.

Important Things to Remember

All participants must bring a ball*, plenty of fluids and be dressed in appropriate soccer attire, including soccer cleats and shin guards (cleats are not required for four and five year-olds, tennis or athletic shoes are permitted at that age).
